Exchange Rate's Rodaini Stays Unbeaten in the Flying Scotsman

Simon Crisford, Silvestre de Sousa and Rodaini | Racing Post

Rodaini entered this black-type bow with a perfect three-for-three record after progressive wins–in a May 31 Leicester maiden, in an Aug. 13 Lingfield conditions heat and in an Aug. 27 Newmarket nursery handicap last time–and registered a career high in this seven-panel test, coming out top in a pulsating three-way go. Fighting restraint behind a steady tempo through the early fractions, he came under increased urging from halfway to challenge wide approaching the final eighth and was driven out to put his nose in front where it mattered. “He only just does enough, but he's progressed with each effort and is a really smart horse,” insisted winning trainer Simon Crisford. “He will definitely stay a mile and will stay a mile well. I think we'll talk to his owner, but he's made the step up with each nursery win and has done the same here. He's beaten some very smart colts today so he deserves to be taken to the next level. We're delighted with him, he has a very good mind and, if you look at him, he's very much a horse for next year.”

The $140,000 KEESEP yearling and 340,000gns TATBRE breezer is a half-brother to Listed Camilla Urso S. placegetter Minds Eyes (Macho Uno), and is a grandson of MGSW GI Acorn S. and GI John A Morris H. runner-up Topicount (Private Account), who in turn is the dam of stakes winners and graded stakes performers Winning Season (Lemon Drop Kid) and Laguna Seca (Seattle Slew). The chestnut's dam Blessings Count (Pulpit) has also produced a yearling filly by Macho Uno and a foal full-brother to the winner.
