Fabulous Strike to Miss Sprint

GI Vosburgh S. winner Fabulous Strike (Smart Strike) will be forced to miss the GI Breedersí Cup Sprint after developing a lung infection. ìA few days after returning from New York [Oct. 2], he developed a fever and wasnít eating up his feed and as it progressed we learned that it was a lung infection,î explained trainer Todd Beattie. ìHe has not responded well to the medication and we just donít have enough time to get ready. Last night, [owner] Walter [Downey] and I came to a decision to pass on the race. Itís a tough decision, but itís the right one.î In addition to his impressive 5 3 4/-length victory in the Sept. 30 Vosburgh, Fabulous Strike captured this yearís GIII Aristides Breedersí Cup S. at Churchill Downs.
