Fantastic’ Renewal of the Beaumont

West coast invader Fantastic Style (Harlan’s Holiday) headlines a loaded renewal of Keeneland’s seven-furlong GII Beaumont S. Sunday. A decisive winner at second asking in Arcadia Jan. 19, the Kaleem Shah colorbearer followed suit with a front-running score in a 6 1/2-furlong optional claimer over that strip Feb. 26. The Bob Baffert pupil boasts several speedy workouts in the interim and gains the services of Hall of Famer John Velazquez, who stands in for regular rider Martin Garcia.
G Watts Humphrey Jr. and William S. Farish’s Sweet Success (Candy Ride {Arg}) is one of several strong East coast runners taking on the chalk here. The George Arnold trainee earned her diploma at third asking sprinting in Hallandale Feb. 8, and was a close second last time in the one-mile GIII Bourbonette Oaks on the Turfway synthetic Mar. 21.
Jack Swain homebred Miss Ella (Exchange Rate) is one of two sophomores stepping up to black-type company off a debut win here. Trained by Graham Motion, the bay showed she had some fight when dueling early and edging clear late to take her six-furlong Gulfstream unveiling Mar. 11. Chad Brown saddles Sheep Pond Partners, Bradley Thoroughbreds and Robert LaPenta’s Delightful Joy (Tapit), who scored a 14-1 upset to earn her diploma in a one-mile Gulfstream test Feb. 8.
Larry Jones fillies have been red hot lately and he will be represented by Tommy Ligon and Michael Pressley’s Divine Dawn (Divine Park). The gray opened her account with a pair of wins, including her debut here in October and a turf test at Fair Grounds in December. Fifth to MGSW stablemate I’m a Chatterbox (Munnings) in the Silverbulletday S. on the Fair Grounds main track Jan. 17, she was a close second to GIII Appalachian S. contender Mizz Money (Mizzen Mast) in a turf allowance in New Orleans Feb. 8 and the grassy Allen LaCombe Memorial S. Mar. 7.
