Coolmore Stud have confirmed that their champion Australian stallion Fastnet Rock (Aus) (Danehill–Piccadilly Circus {Aus}, by Royal Academy) will return to Tipperary in Ireland for the 2016 European breeding season.
The 13-year-old remained in his homeland this year having first traveled to Ireland in 2010. His eldest Irish conceived crop is now four and it includes, among others, the Dermot Weld-trained Fascinating Rock (Ire), a multiple Group 3 winner and a narrowly beaten runner-up behind Al Kazeem (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) in the G1 Tatteralls Gold Cup. His 3-year-old crop has been even more successful, yielding the Classic and Group 1-winning fillies Qualify (Ire) (Investec Oaks) and Diamondsandrubies (Ire) (Pretty Polly S.).
Fastnet Rock was champion sire in Australia in 2011-2012 and is on track to lead the country's stallions by progeny earnings and by stakes winners for 2014/2015. His numerous top progeny in the country include Atlantic Jewel (Aus), Sea Siren (Aus), Wanted (Aus) and Foxwedge (Aus). Fastnet Rock also bids to become a sire of sires with the progeny of Foxwedge having been well received at sales to date, while his sire sons Hinchinbrook (Aus) and Rothesay (Aus) are atop the leaderboards for first-crop progeny earnings and number of winners, respectively.
