Naughty or Nice was a belated debut scorer going an extended nine furlongs at Gowran Park in her only prior start last time Apr. 30, and dug deep in this black-type bow to maintain her perfect tally. Settled towards the rear until improving into a handy fifth at halfway in this marathon test, she forced her way between rivals to joint the leaders with three furlongs remaining and kept on bravely under a drive once sent to the front approaching the final eighth to register a career high. “For a green filly she was in front plenty soon enough and that maybe contributed to her stopping a little at the end, but it's great to win [back type] with her,” said trainer John Oxx. “Declan [McDonogh] was drawn on the inside and held her up, but he was in a bit of a pocket and when the chance came he had to take it and go a little bit sooner than he wanted to. She stays well, got the trip well and has a bit of a turn of foot too. She's not one paced by any means. She has an entry in the [June 22 G2] Ribblesdale S. [at Royal Ascot], but that might be a fair jump up. We'll see as she's still quite green and might keep improving. This is supposed to be a lead up race to the [June 23 G3] Queen's Vase and that would be an option, but it is an extra furlong this year. Those are the two alternatives and it might be one or the other.”
