The million guineas barrier was breached for the first time at the Tattersalls October Yearling sale when John Ferguson prevailed for a dark bay son of Shamardal during the second session of Book 1 today. Ferguson locked horns with team Coolmore over the son of multiple group winner Cassandra Go (Ire) (Indian Ridge {GB}), and after a drawn out battle, prevailed at 1.7 million guineas. The May foal is a half to G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Halfway to Heaven (Ire) (Pivotal {GB})–the dam of Group 3 winner Flying the Flag (Ire) (Galileo {Ire})–as well as Group 3 winners Tickled Pink (Ire) and Theann (GB).
