As expected John Gosden has added market leader Wings Of Desire (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) to this Saturday's G1 Investec Epsom Derby field. Lady Bamford's homebred is one of four supplementary entries for the race that also includes Cloth Of Stars (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}), Red Verdon (Lemon Drop Kid) and Humphrey Bogart (Ire) (Tagula {Ire}) giving a total of 18 potential starters . Richard Hannon, trainer of Lingfield's Listed Betfred Derby Trial S. winner Humphrey Bogart is looking forward to Saturday and commented, “He has surprised me all along this season. I didn't think he would get a mile and a quarter – he did, I didn't think he would get a mile and a half and he did.” Hannon added, “He has been to Epsom, he gets the trip and has got a lot of speed for a Derby horse – he will have more of a turn of foot than a lot of them. I hope he settles and the faster they go the more it will suit him.”Aidan O'Brien has won three of the last four Epsom Derbies and he has left in seven horses including US Army Ranger (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Port Douglas (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) separated by only a short head when occupying the first two positions in the G3 MBNA Chester Vase May 5. The Dermot Weld trained Aga Khan homebred Harzand (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and Jim Bolger's Godolphin colourbearer Moonlight Magic (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}) could also make the trip from Ireland. Sir Michael Stoute is aiming for a sixth win in the race and he could be double handed in his attempt with Ulysees (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Across The Stars (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) both on target. Massaat (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) brings Classic form to the table having finished second in the G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas and he will be Owen Burrows' first runner in the race in his first season as a trainer.
