The 2008 finalists for induction into Thoroughbred Racing's Hall of Fame were announced yesterday. They are:
Trainers: Carl Nafzger, Robert Wheeler
Jockeys: Edgar Prado, Randy Romero, Alex Solis
Contemporary Male Horses: Best Pal, Manila, Tiznow
Contemporary Female Horses: Inside Information, Open Mind, Silverbulletday, Sky Beauty
There were a total of 81 candidates considered for Hall of Fame honors this year. The finalists will be voted on by the 180 members of the Voting Panel, and the top votegetter in each category will be inducted on Monday, Aug. 4 at the national Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs. In the event of a tie, there will be more than one inductee in that category.
