Finger Lakes, HBPA Pledge TAA Contribution

The Finger Lakes Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association and Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack have pledged a $1 per start contribution to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.

“The TAA is grateful for the contributions from the Finger Lakes HBPA and Finger Lakes Racetrack,” TAA president John Phillips said. “These funds will help support TAA-accredited organizations that provide a safe first exit for horses leaving the racetrack. We're happy to count Finger Lakes Racetrack and Finger Lakes HBPA among our growing number of racetrack and HBPA supporters.”

The Finger Lake meet runs through Nov. 28.

“We strongly believe the importance of quality aftercare cannot be overstated and should never be overlooked,” Chris Riegle, president/general manager of Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, said. “Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack is pleased and proud to add its name to the impressive list of stakeholders who support the efforts of the TAA and the Thoroughbred aftercare organizations they serve.”

Finger Lakes HBPA president David Brown added, “The Finger Lakes horsemen are pleased to lend their support to a great organization that over the years has been so helpful to our own on-track adoption program.”

The TAA's funding provides annual grants awarded to accredited aftercare organizations and supports the inspection process of aftercare organizations. Currently, 64 organizations with approximately 170 facilities in North America hold TAA accreditation. Eight aftercare organizations hold TAA accreditation in New York, including Finger Lakes Thoroughbred Adoption Program. A full list can be found on ThoroughbredAftercare.org.
