First Group 1 For So You Think

Coolmore Stud's decision to allow So You Think (NZ) (High Chaparral {Ire}) continue his stud career in Australia appears a wise move given the stallion was represented by his first Group 1 winner when La Diosa (NZ) captured the G1 Gavelhouse.com NZ 1000 Guineas at Riccarton Park in New Zealand on Saturday. Trained by Matt and Mandy Brown, La Diosa has now won four of her six starts including two listed contests and after justifying favouritism on Saturday her winning rider Racha Cuneen commented,  “She's an amazing filly and I'm very grateful to be given the opportunity by Mandy and Matt Brown and the connections.” Not only was it was a maiden Group 1 win for ten-time Group 1 winner So You Think  but also for the jockey and trainer. “We didn't know how she would handle it,” trainer Matt Brown said. “She had to be good to win and she is very good, she just likes to get back and relax. Racha hasn't done anything wrong on her and he rode her brilliantly.”
