The R.A.C.E. Fund will kick off its annual online auction Friday, May 8 on eBay (seller name: racefund) at 8 p.m. ET with all proceeds raised used to help Thoroughbreds in need of retirement and rescue from slaughter. In addition to halters and horseshoes worn by champions, a number of items have been donated from the third phase of photographer Christopher Hoff's private collection.
“We have some very exciting and amazing auction items again this year,” said R.A.C.E. Fund President Marlene Murray. “We would like to especially thank our volunteer Roxanne Campbell for her dedication and tireless efforts as well as Claiborne, Darley, Denali Stud, Gainesway, Lane's End, Taylor Made, Three Chimneys, and Christopher Hoff for their generous support by donating such valuable items of racing champions to help us raise funds.”
Included among the plethora of offerings are the following:
- Flightline, Knicks Go, and Nyquist halters
- Seize the Grey and War Front shoes
- signed photographs of the late Hall of Fame trainers Woody Stephens and D. Wayne Lukas
- Secretariat's Time Magazine
- 1973 Secretariat Kentucky Derby program
- 1978 Preakness Stakes (Affirmed and Alydar) program
- 2025 Belmont Stakes program won by Sovereignty and signed by jockeys
- VIP Farm Tour donated by Three Chimneys and Denali Stud
