Areen looks to rebound | Racing Post

With five of the last 11 renewals of Maisons-Laffitte's G2 Prix Robert Papin going to subsequent top-level scorers, Sunday's edition demands close scrutiny, with the unbeaten filly Fly on the Night (GB) (Equiano {Fr}) the one to aim at. Successful in the G3 Prix du Bois over five furlongs at Chantilly June 29, the Italian bay–who had earlier annexed the Listed Premio Alessandro Perrone over this trip at the Capannelle June 2–bids to extend the fine record of her sex in recent times. The other two fillies in the line-up also boast perfect records, with Gerard Augustin-Normand's June 6 Listed Prix la Fleche winner Venecia Style (Fr) (Desert Style {Ire}) joined by the Wertheimers' six-furlong course debut scorer Yakaba (Fr) (Medicean {GB}). Of the Brits, Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah's Areen (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) holds the strongest claims on his second in Royal Ascot's Listed Windsor Castle S. June 16, but was disappointing when only sixth in the six-furlong G2 July S. at Newmarket subsequently July 9.
