+SUPERIOR STATUS (c, 2, Forefathers–Street Beat, by Dixie Brass) showed good speed and scored first out at Del Mar over a well-bet and unlucky favorite. Let go at 14-1, the dark bay stalked the pace from close range going into the turn and moved to the fore at the top of the lane. Kicking well clear in the stretch, Superior Status got leg-weary late but held sway by 1 1/4 lengths over odds-on favorite Big Gray Rocket (Tapit), who got completely left at the gate and made a huge run from there to finish a flying second. The winner sold for $80,000, 40 times his sire's stud fee, after breezing one furlong in :9 4/5 at OBS March. He is a half to Ahead of Her Time (Leestown), MSW, $340,100; and Hisse (Buddha), MSW, $435,681. Street Beat's most recent produce is a 2016 colt by Goldencents. Sale history: $45,000 Ylg '15 ESLYRL. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $37,800. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
