Australian trainer Danny O'Brien faces his fourth cobalt positive after a horse in his care, Bullpit (Aus) (Speed 'n' Power {Aus}), was revealed to have returned elevated levels of the trace element following a win at Moonee Valley in December.
O'Brien is one of four Victorian-based trainers–in addition to a handful from New South Wales and Queensland–under investigation for cobalt positives. Racing Victoria recently announced that its investigations would not be completed at the end of March, as originally anticipated.
O'Brien tweeted yesterday that Bullpit received similar pre-race supplements to his other runners that have tested positive, and he is co-operating with the investigation.
