Fractured Left Front Sesamoid for Indyanne (Indian Charlie)

John Sikura's Indyanne (Indian Charlie), who was pulled up in the stretch in Saturday's GI La Brea S. at Santa Anita, has suffered a fractured sesamoid in her left foreleg, according to Dr. Jill Bailey, the veterinarian representing the Los Angeles Turf Club. “It looks like she's going to be saved,” trainer Greg Gilchrist said. “The good part is the outside sesamoid is perfect and she tore very few ligaments. Her chance for recovery is 65-35 to be just fine as a broodmare. She'll have surgery in the next three days. This could have been a lot worse.” The sophomore filly previously won five of seven career starts, including the GIII Azalea S. at Calder in July.
