Connections of Frankel (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) yesterday moved quickly to deny rumours which spread during the afternoon that he was to be retired immediately. Following an announcement on BBC Racing that the brilliant 4-year-old would not race again, Khalid Abdullah's Racing Manager Teddy Grimthorpe stepped in to quash the hearsay. “He certainly hasn't been retired,” he said. “I spoke to Henry [Cecil] today and no decision will be taken after this scan which will be done next week. It is incorrect to think that he has been retired and it's too early to talk about that. None of these things are straightforward, but I'm led to believe the scan will be definitive and if there isn't a problem, I would be very hopeful he will resume training. At this stage I'd like to remain positive and hopeful.”
