G1 Prince of Wales's S. winner and 'TDN Rising Star' Free Eagle (Ire) (High Chaparral {Ire}–Polished Gem {Ire}, by Danehill) will enter stud at the Irish National Stud next year. The Moyglare Stud homebred, who is trained by Dermot Weld, will target races in Japan and Hong Kong later this year before retiring.

He is a great horse and gives me so much enjoyment, and whilst looking forward to seeing him run again, I am also excited for the future and to see his offspring race,” said Moyglare Stud owner Eva-Marie Bucher Haefner. “I decided that it is time for him to move onto his next career as a stallion and I am delighted to partner with the Irish National Stud, and as Free Eagle will be syndicated, hopefully some of the breeders who have admired his talent as a racehorse can share in his future.”

A 5 1/2-length debut winner at Leopardstown in August 2013, Free Eagle found only dual Derby winner Australia (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) too tough in the G3 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Trial S. three weeks later. Shelved for a year due to injury, Free Eagle was an impressive winner of the G3 KPMG Enterprise S. on return last September, and finished third in the G1 Qipco Champion S. He won the Prince of Wales's first-up in June, and was third in the G1 Qipco Irish Champion S. before finishing sixth in the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Oct. 4.
