French Flair In Dubai Millennium

Thursday's G3 Dubai Millennium S. at Meydan features a pair of high-performing runners from France in Elliptique (Ire) (New Approach {Ire}) and 'TDN Rising Star' Zarak (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}). The former, a Group 3 winner in France and the winner of last year's G1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis in Germany while trained by Andre Fabre, was transferred to Dubai trainer Satish Seemar after a seventh in the G1 Longines Hong Kong Cup in December and makes his local debut.

Zarak, one of France's most promising 3-year-olds last year, failed to fully capitalize on his potential, finishing second behind Almanzor (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) in both the G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano, and the Aga Khan colourbearer appears here for the first time since finishing third in the Oct. 1 G2 Prix Dollar for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre.

Godolphin filly Promising Run (Hard Spun) gets a weight break from the boys and she may just be the one to beat coming off a victory in the Jan. 26 G2 Al Rashidiya S. Fourth that day was Elite Excalibur (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), who has since run second behind the classy Cymric (Kitten's Joy) in a mile turf handicap on Feb. 2.
