A colt by Friends Lake was hammered down to pinhooker Nick de Meric for $250,000 to lead the way during the opening 80 hips at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Yearlings Sale in Lexington. Bred by Tim Thornton and Brereton Jones and consigned by Jones's Airdrie Stud, the bay is a half to a pair of stakes-placed runners and to the dam of GSP Dagger. Other top sellers included a Dapple Stud-consigned daughter of Smarty Jones, which was purchased for $150,000 by Castletop Stable; and a $135,000 son of Afleet Alex which was purchased by Castletop from the Hopewell Farm consignment.
