Another horse that advertised her claims for future stakes success was the juvenile filly Frolic (Aus) (Husson {Arg}). She chose the A$250,000 Inglis Classic to make her breakthrough racecourse success and she did it with some authority. Trained by Michael Freedman, Frolic was ridden with great confidence by Tommy Berry who was content to sit last in the early stages. Covering more ground than his rivals Berry steered Frolic wide of everything and she produced a sustained burst of acceleration to chase down Sweet Deal (Aus) (Casino Prince {Aus}) and win by a cosy length and a half with the cleverly named Lets Get Nauti Gal (Aus) (Harbour Watch {Ire}) over six lengths adrift in third. Frolic showed promise when running second in a maiden at Beaumont Jan. 7 before filling the same position at Canterbury Jan. 20. She obviously came forward significantly from that experience with further progress likely. “I've always genuinely thought this filly will be better once she gets to 1400m and a mile,'' Michael Freedman told news.com.au. “There are plenty of options to consider but I want to see how she pulls up first then we will make some decisions.'' One major option could be the G1 Golden Slipper and her jockey reckons Frolic could be up to the task. “I wouldn't say she's a Slipper horse just yet but she's heading that way. She's got to keep improving,” Berry added.
