Galileo Filly Sprints To Success At Naas

Cuff and connections | Racing Post

On a day when Ballydoyle underlined their juvenile strength ahead of the Royal meeting, Cuff who had broken her maiden over this course and distance May 11 returned to register a first black-type success with authority under Ryan Moore. Fourth on her racecourse bow at Navan Apr. 17, the chestnut had had to battle to get off the mark last time but there was a distinct air of superiority at the business end of this race which her stable last won with Lillie Langtry (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) in 2009. Showing dash to race just off the early pace, she was taken to the rail and squeezed through to lead with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining before staying on strongly to justify favouritism from Yulong Baobei. “She was quite green that day [on her last run] and the ground was bad,” her rider said. “The way Aidan brings horses on and on this faster ground, she's just improved and you'd have to be very happy with that performance today. She got the gap sooner than I would ideally have liked, but when I put her in there she was very brave.” Aidan O'Brien added, “She was unbelievably green the last day, but has come forward well. It's unusual to see a Galileo filly starting off over five, but she's pacey. We'll look at something like the [G3] Albany [S. at Royal Ascot June 17] with her.” Click for the Racing Post result.
