Third in the G2 Beresford S. over a mile here in September and second in the G3 Autumn S. at that distance at Newmarket the following month, the bay finished a well-beaten third in the G3 Ballysax S. over this trip at Leopardstown on his return Apr. 10 prior to filling fourth spot in that same venue's G3 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial S. last time May 8. Sent straight to the lead for the first time in his career which began with a tendency to start slowly, he was challenged first by Foxtrot Charlie in mid-straight and after fending off that rival asserted for an ultimately comfortable win from the much-improved filly Santa Monica. “He's a tough horse and kept responding,” his trainer said. “Ryan was left alone in front and gave him a very good ride. He was only doing what he had to do.
