MIDTERM (GB) (c, 4, Galileo {Ire}–Midday {GB} {Hwt. Older Mare-Eng at 9 1/2-11f & 11-14f, MG1SW-Eng, G1W-US & Fr, MG1SP-Ire, $3,438,502}, by Oasis Dream {GB}), sent off the 7-4 second favourite coming off a break having been last of six in the Listed Fred Archer S. at Newmarket at the start of July, was held up in last early by Ryan Moore. Gaining momentum in the final quarter mile, the homebred who had promised much when taking last year's G3 Sandown Classic Trial brushed aside the recent G3Rose of Lancaster S. runner-up Mount Logan (Ire) (New Approach(IRE) 150 yards out and kept rolling for an authoritative 2 1/2-length success. Midterm, who was forced to miss the Derby here due to injury but was runner-up in the G2 Prix Niel at Chantilly in September, is the first foal out of the relentless Midday, whose resume included three renewals of the G1 Nassau S., a G1 Yorkshire Oaks, a G1 Prix Vermeille and a GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Her second is this year's Listed Height of Fashion S. winner and G2 Ribblesdale S. runner-up Mori (GB) (Frankel {GB}) who disappointed in the Listed Galtres S. at York last week. Midday is a half-sister to the G3 Nell Gwyn S. winner and Nassau third Hot Snap (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) from the family of the sire Elmaamul and G1 Epsom Oaks heroine Reams of Verse (Nureyev).
