Galileo's Promise To Be True Unbeaten After Silver Flash Test

A full-sister to the 2011 G1 Moyglare Stud S. heroine and G1 1000 Guineas third Maybe, who also won this en route, Promise To Be True was a warm order on the back of her taking debut win over 7 1/2 furlongs at Tipperary June 30. Waited with behind the leading trio throughout the early stages, the bay looked as if she might be in trouble inside the last quarter mile but was coaxed into action by Ryan Moore as the final furlong approached. As she had done on her first start, she found a stylish change of gear to sweep to the front under hand riding passing the furlong marker and was comfortably on top at the line.

“She's a nice filly. She's green and she was very green first time,” commented trainer Aidan O'Brien on another big day for Coolmore and Ballydoyle. “Today was a big step up for her amongst horses on quicker ground, but you'd have to be very happy. Seamus [Heffernan] was mad about her the other day in Tipperary and we thought she had ability, but you're never sure until they do it. Something like the [G2] Debutante Stakes [at The Curragh Aug. 21] might suit her. We'll see where Mrs Stockwell is going with her filly [Brave Anna].”

Pedigree Notes:

The speedy dam, who captured the Listed St. Hugh's S. over five furlongs, is a half-sister to the much more stamina-laden G1 Epsom Oaks and G1 Preis der Diana heroine Dancing Rain (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), who was also successful in the G2 QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares S. The third dam is Rose of Jericho, famous producer of the sires Archway (Ire), Dr Devious (Ire), Shinko King (Ire) and Royal Court (Ire) and second dam of the G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen-winning sire Suzuka Phoenix (Jpn). The family also features the G3 Doomben Roses winner and G1 New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas third Awesome Planet (Aus) (Giant's Causeway) and her son Awesome Rock (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) who was disqualified from first to second in this year's G1 Australian Cup.
