Following six starts in 2006–which included maiden and allowance wins, Ginger Punch (Awesome Again) was put on the shelf and underwent laser surgery to remove growths on her throat. It was very clear from the beginning of her four-year-old campaign that the Stronach homebred had returned a new horse, and she capped of the season with a Breeders' Cup score and the Eclipse as top older mare.
