GISW Delta Prince Euthanized

Delta Prince

Grade I winner Delta Prince (Street Cry {Ire}–Delta Princess, by A.P. Indy) was euthanized at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital Friday, Oct. 25, following complications associated with Laminitis and renal failure subsequent to an incident of colic. Campaigned by Stronach Stables, Delta Prince, who recorded his most important career victory in the GI Maker's 46 Mile S. at Keeneland in April, was scheduled to join Adena Springs' Kentucky stallion roster for 2020.

“He was one of the last important sons of Street Cry,” said Donald Wells, farm director at Adena Springs Kentucky. “He will be sorely missed by not only everyone on our farm, but the entire industry. He was a very tough and kind horse who fought every step of the way. I know he would have made a major impact at stud had he been given the opportunity.

In addition to the Maker's 46 Mile, the half-brother to three-time Eclipse champion Royal Delta (Empire Maker) also annexed the 2018 GII King Edward S. and hit the board in five additional graded stakes, including the 2018 GI Fourstardave S. and the GI Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational earlier this January. The Jimmy Jerkens trainee won five of 14 career races over four seasons, amassing $1,174,170 in earnings.

“We would like to thank Jimmy Jerkens and his staff for all of their efforts and love that they showed him throughout his career, as well as to everyone at Rood and Riddle for their valiant efforts and impeccable care,” added Wells.
