Canadian Horse of the Year Catch a Glimpse (City Zip) will put her perfect turf record on the line as she attempts to navigate 1 1/4 miles for the first time in the GI Belmont Oaks, a “Win and You're In” event for the GI Breeders' Cup F/M Turf. Winner of the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf last term, the chestnut is a perfect four-for-four this season, starting with wins in the GIII Herecomesthebride S. Feb. 27, the GIII Appalachian S. Apr. 14, the GIII Edgewood S. May 6. The Mark Casse pupil took on males for the first time in her most recent start, scoring an impressive frontrunning victory over stablemate Airoforce (Colonel John) in the GIII Penn Mile June 4.
“We think she's a really talented filly; she's really gutsy,” Norm Casse, the son and assistant to Mark Casse, said to the NYRA notes team. “This will be a real test for her as far as distance, but if they let her get comfortable early, she'll be really hard to run down.”
Just two races after he saddles the top two morning-line choices in the GI Belmont Derby, Aiden O'Brien will saddle a pair of strong contenders in this test led by Ballydoyle (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Winner of last term's G2 Debutante S. and second in the G1 Moyglare Stud S. at the Curragh, the bay carried the Coolmore colors to a victory in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac Oct. 4. Runner-up in the G1 1000 Guineas May 1, she was sixth last time in the G1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly and will add Lasix for this first start on American soil. O'Brien also saddles the aptly named Coolmore (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who finished one spot ahead of her more accomplished stablemate in the Diane. Winner of the G3 Weld Park S. last term, the chestnut, who will also receive Lasix for the first time, checked in 10th in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas May 22 prior to her last out effort.
Hall of Famer Bill Mott sends out another formidable runner for Team U.S.A. in Larkin Armstrong's Harmonize (Scat Daddy), who adds blinkers for this one. Winner of the GIII Jessamine S. last October, the bay kicked off this season with a victory in Gulfstream's Sanibel Island H. Mar. 26 and was third in the Edgewood after stumbling at the start. She was last seen finishing second behind Time and Motion (Tapit) in the Wonder Again S. June 5, the local prep for this test. Phillips Racing Partnership's Time and Motion enters off a three-race win streak. Breaking her maiden at fourth asking in Hallandale Mar. 20, the Jimmy Toner trainee captured Aqueduct's Memories of Silver S. Apr. 24 prior to her last out success here. Also of interest is Sanford Robertson's Auntie Joy (Uncle Mo), who finished second in the Edgewood and bested the reopposing Noble Beauty (Kitten's Joy) with a wire-to-wire victory in the GIII Regret S. at Churchill Downs June 18.
