Inglis hosted their final auction of 2017, the December Thoroughbred Sale and it was a relatively low key event. 98 lots were offered for sale with 89 changing hands for a healthy 91% clearance rate. Total receipts for the day amounted to A$1,632,850 which gave an average of A$18,347 and a median of A$10,000. Top price of the day was reserved for the Godolphin horse Big Blue (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) who was bought by Maher Bloodstock for A$102,000. Offered as lot 54, the 5-year-old Big Blue was a stakes winner in France for Andre Fabre and has been running respectably in good company recently for James Cummings. Godolphin sold all 12 of their offered lots and another of their draft to prove popular was lot 51 Soiree (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}). A winner in four starts the 4-year-old mare was bought by Major Bloodstock for A$100,000. Also fetching the same figure was lot 56 Demonstrate (Aus) (New Approach {Ire}). The five-time winner has been stakes placed on a number of occasions and was knocked down to J Williams. There was one other six figure transaction and that was for lot 73 Foundation (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}). A winner of the G2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge S. for Highclere Racing in 2015, the gelding was bought by Michael Hickmott Bloodstock for A$100,000.
Inglis will commence business in 2018 with the Classic Yearling Sale, the first sale at Riverside Stables in Sydney which takes place Feb. 10-13.
