Goffs UK January Sale Posts Increases

The two-day Goffs UK January Sale at Doncaster concluded on Wednesday with gains across all categories. A mixture of 265 National Hunt foals, mares, stores, horses-in-training and point-to-pointers, as well as the Trull House Stud Dispersal grossed £4,134,500 from 351 offered. The average was £15,602 (+32%), while the median of £8,000 was a 23% increase and the clearance rate was 75.5%.

Topping the two days was lot 73, Phoenix Way (Ire) (Stowaway {GB}) at £270,000 on the bid of Tim Hyde. Consigned by Donnchadh Doyle's Monbeg Stables, the 5-year-old gelding is a 12-length winner of his only start, a maiden point-to-point at Killeagh on Jan. 14. This is the extended family of G2 Prix de Royallieu heroine Passionaria (Fr) (Beldale Flutter).

“Today's sale and yesterday's Point-to-Point/Form Horse Session proved, once again, that Doncaster is the measure of any venue for National Hunt sales at the top of the market with horses selling for £270,000 and £210,000,” said Goffs UK Managing Director Tony Williams. “In all, we have had an exceptional two-days and we wish our buyers all the very best with their purchases.”
