Officials at Golden Gate Fields, the northern fairs and horsemen's groups have reached an agreement on a financing plan that will allow for Golden Gate to remain open for stabling and training during the summer fair season in Northern California.
As part of the arrangement, all trainers stabled at the Albany oval during the fairs season will be required to make one start per stall (minimum start requirement) during that time. Any trainer who does not satisfy that requirement will be required to pay $5 per day for all stalls that fall short of the requirement, i.e. if a trainer has 10 stalls at the track and makes only seven starts at the fairs, the trainer would owe $5 per day for three stalls.
Golden Gate will remain open as a simulcast wagering facility during the fair meetings.
