Unraced since a smashing victory in the G1 Golden Slipper S. at Rosehill Mar. 19, James Harron Bloodstock, Newgate Stud Farm et al's 'TDN Rising Star' Capitalist (Aus) (Written Tycoon {Aus}) took an important step towards a return to the races with a smart 1.3-length success in a Friday morning barrier trial over 850 metres on the inner course at nearby Randwick Racecourse.
While Blake Shinn has ridden the chestnut in all of his previous races and trials, Kerrin McEvoy was in the saddle and the duo was somewhat slow to leave stall one before getting up into fourth entering the turn. Capitalist tossed his head about in the lane, imploring his rider to allow him to do more, and McEvoy finally let his colt loose and he steamed up the fence to win while not fully extended (video). An A$165,000 purchase out of the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Capitalist resumes in the G2 Missile S. (1200m) at Randwick Aug. 6.
