Jockey Garrett Gomez recorded his 71st stakes victory of the year at Hollywood Park yesterday, breaking the record established by Jerry Bailey during the 2003 season. The 35-year-old, who tied Baileyís record with a win on Hucking Hot in the Audrey Skirball-Kenis S. Saturday, set the mark aboard two-year-old filly Spring Awakening in the Mocassin S. ìUntil I tied it yesterday, it really hadn't sunk in,î Gomez said of the record. ìThis is the guy [agent Ron Anderson] that did it right here. I just pointed 'em in the right direction.î
