Grand Prix Glory For Fastnet Rock's One Foot In Heaven

One Foot In Heaven | Scoop Dyga

Showing his quality with a win in the G3 Prix d'Hedouville over 12 furlongs at Saint-Cloud last time May 8, One Foot In Heaven had to battle more this time in deep ground but got the job done to justify cramped odds. First successful in black-type company in the Listed Prix Lord Seymour over this trip at Maisons-Laffitte Apr. 19, the bay had produced a turn of acceleration to capture the d'Hedouville but in this ground that was nullified to an extent. Settled towards the rear by Christophe Soumillon, the son of the champion Pride was asked to work out wide in the straight and after gaining the lead with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining stayed on to deny the game and persistent Garlingari. “He gets better and has that fantastic turn of foot of his mother and adapts to everything,” trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre commented. “Still I feel he needs a little break now, so he will not go to the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and will instead come back in September.” One Foot In Heaven is by far the classiest produce of his distinguished dam, who also raced in these colours for this stable and whose half-sister is the G3 Prix de Flore winner Fate (Fr) (Teofilo {Ire}). His family includes the G1 1000 Guineas heroine Speciosa (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), while the G3 Princess Royal S.-winning third dam Mandera was responsible for the St Leger hero Touching Wood. Pride also has an as-yet unraced 3-year-old colt Man of Honor (Ire) (Raven's Pass), a 2-year-old filly by Lawman (Fr) named Speciality (Fr) and a yearling colt by Reliable Man (GB).
