Grand Prix Glory for Silverwave At Saint-Cloud

Silverwave | Scoop Dyga

Caught in the backwash of A Shin Hikari (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) when a staggering 12-lengths third in the nine-furlong G1 Prix d'Ispahan at Chantilly last time May 24, Silverwave underlined just what that Japanese challenger achieved on that day by gaining a group 1 win that he had long been creeping toward. Having burst onto the scene when stripping the unbeaten record of the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Epicuris (GB) (Rail Link {GB}) as the four-length winner of the G3 Prix la Force over 10 furlongs at Longchamp in April, the bay subsequently flopped when ninth in the G1 Prix du Jockey Club over 10 1/2 furlongs at Chantilly in May prior to finishing fourth behind Erupt in Longchamp's G1 Grand Prix de Paris trying this trip for the first time on Bastille Day. Second to New Bay (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) in the G2 Prix Niel back there in September and 10th in the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Silverwave left Alain Couetil's yard to join Pascal Bary and started inauspiciously this term when seventh in the G2 Prix d'Harcourt over a mile and a quarter at Chantilly Apr. 10. Improving with a second to Dariyan (Fr) (Shamardal) in the G1 Prix Ganay over 10 1/2 furlongs here May 1, he was behind that rival again in the d'Ispahan as the Hong Kong Cup hero stretched out of view. Perfectly positioned in fourth early sporting a hood with Maxime Guyon tracking the Aga Khan's pacemaker Alamgiyr (Ire) (Desert Style {Ire}), he was sent alongside Garlingari (Fr) (Linngari {Ire}) passing the quarter pole and soon put himself out of recall as the closers hunched together in behind. At the line, it was last year's G1 Grand Prix de Paris winner Erupt who got closest having found top gear too late, with the reliable yardstick Siljan's Saga gaining a podium place. The 13-10 favourite Vazirabad (Fr) (Monsun {Ger}) was only two lengths behind the winner in seventh, but held every chance in the straight had he had the speed required and ultimately had no excuses. A half-brother to three black-type performers headed by the G1 Prix Jean Prat-winning sire Stormy River (Fr), Silverwave is out of a half to the GIII Miesque S. and GIII Senorita S. winner Fantastic Filly (Fr) (Myrakalu {Fr}). His extended family features Riverqueen (Fr) (Luthier {Fr}), the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine who also captured this prize and the G1 Prix Saint-Alary during her stellar career. After Silverwave, Miss Bio also has a 2-year-old filly by Myboycharlie (Ire) named Laem Sing (Fr) and a yearling filly by the emerging sire Siyouni (Fr) named Storm To the Sea (Fr).
