Absent since his defeat of the subsequent G3 Prix de Guiche winner Phelps Win (Fr) (Muhtathir {GB}) in the G3 Prix la Force over nine furlongs at Chantilly on Apr. 9, Godolphin's promising Graphite (Fr) (Shamardal) makes his belated return on Sunday in Deauville's G3 Prix Quincey. “This race will be a case of watching to see how he gets on,” the operation's Lisa-Jane Graffard said. “Hopefully, Sunday's race will set him up for a nice autumn campaign, but we would just like to see him run a good race on his comeback.” Last year's G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains third Dicton (GB) (Lawman {Fr}) is dropped in class on his return after a latest fourth in the nine-furlong G1 Prix d'Ispahan at Chantilly on May 28.
