The Jockey Club's Grassroots Flat Series, which provides opportunities for horses below the highest level to compete for substantial prizemoney, has added a Nursery Handicap Series. It also runs a Sprint and a Middle Distance series. The opening qualifiers for the Sprint and Middle Distance series' will be on May 13 at Nottingham, while the first Nursery series qualifier will be held at Haydock on July 7.
The finals for the three series' will be held at Nottingham on Oct. 4, offering a £70,000 prize pot. The Nursery Handicap Series will culminate with a final worth £20,000, added to the existing finals at £25,000 each. To qualify, runners must have run in a minimum of one qualification race throughout the season, of which there are a minimum of 18 staged across Jockey Club Racecourses.
