Monsieur Bond (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}-Musical Essence {GB}, by Song {GB}), a multiple group-winning sprinter and most notably the sire of G1 Prix de l'Abbaye winners Gilt Edge Girl (GB) and Move In Time (GB), has died aged 19 at Norton Grove Stud, according to Racing Post. The sire of six stakes winners, Monsieur Bond had stood at Norton Grove since 2010 after moving from Whitsbury Manor Stud.
“He's a sad loss to the family and Norton Grove Stud,” Charlie Bond, whose father Reg Bond raced Monsieur Bond, told Racing Post. “He was very well looked after at the stud by Richard and Maggie, he had a very good home for his stallion career. I don't think many sires have won two Abbayes, and Bryan [Smart] trained him into a fantastic racehorse who won at Group 2 level. He'll be sadly missed by all of us.”
