Tattersalls have released online their catalogue for the Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale which takes place May 4-5. The extensive catalogue contains 213 breeze up 2-year-olds along with 91 horses in training, with juveniles scheduled to breeze up Newmarket's Rowley Mile Racecourse Thursday May 4 from 9.00 a.m. Last year the breeze up section was topped by the Ardglas Stables offered Pouvoir Magique (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}) who sold to Blandford Bloodstock for £300,000

Lot 157 is the sole offering by Le Havre this year and is offered by Clenagh Castle Stables out of the mare Retiens La Nuit (Grand Slam) who has bred one winner from two runners. No less than 48 of the sires with 2-year-olds catalogued have already sired Classic or Group 1 winners and of those that haven't, Society Rock (Ire) and Swiss Spirit (GB) have both gotten off the mark early in the season with their first crop runners. The ill-fated Society Rock has seven catalogued while Whitsbury Manor's Swiss Spirit is represented by three juveniles. Kodiac (GB) and Footstepsinthesand (GB) have the greatest numbers catalogued with eight apiece.

Last year's HIT section was topped by Neoclassical (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and the Tattersalls team will be hoping his sale price of 47,000gns will be eclipsed based on the quality of stock entered this year. The catalogue contains several stakes winners and performers as well as 17 lots with an official rating of 80 or higher. Among the highest achievers on offer include Group 2 winner Spirit Quartz (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) (lot 56) who won two Listed races in 2016; Diana Lady (Chi) (Dunkirk) (lot 38) who was Group 1 placed in Chile and the smart Jamie Osborne trained 4-year-old Every Chance (Ire) (Frozen Power {Ire}), a recent winner at Wolverhampton off a mark of 90 and catalogued as lot 86. Roger Varian's Steve Rogers (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) has long threatened to win a big race and he should proved popular as lot 91.

Commenting on the catalogue, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “The Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale enjoyed another successful year in 2016 with Group and Listed performers not only throughout Europe but also in North America and Dubai and this year's catalogue has an abundance of quality two year olds in training as well as high class proven horses in training. Combining breeze up horses with older horses in training has consistently added an extra dimension to the Guineas Sale and this year's catalogue has all the ingredients to appeal to buyers from Britain, Ireland and further afield.”
