Happy Now?

Happy Like A Fool (chestnut) | Racing Post

Undone by Heartache (GB) (Kyllachy {GB}) in the G2 Queen Mary S., Happy Like a Fool (Distorted Humor) arrives at Glorious Goodwood with a score to settle in Wednesday's G3 Bombay Sapphire Molecomb S. No match for the Clive Cox trainee when second in that June 21 Royal Ascot contest, the imposing chestnut, who is owned by Merriebelle Stable and Coolmore, is fine-tuned for her second British summer festival target. “She was beaten fair and square at Ascot, there was no excuse. I expected her to win, but you have to check yourself and remember it's Royal Ascot,” Wesley Ward said. “She's been working in Newmarket with Elizabeth Darcy and manhandling her. I've seen the videos and she just sits in behind and cruises on by. Elizabeth Darcy is a good filly and has finished second in a Group 3 in France since Ascot. I know if Happy Like a Fool is doing that to her, we're in good shape for Goodwood.”

Aidan O'Brien's juveniles are as strong as ever and Battle of Jericho (War Front) is the designated representative here following his maiden win over six furlongs at Leopardstown on July 20, while another dropping back in trip is Saeed Manana's Invincible Army (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) following his fourth in the G2 July S. at Newmarket on July 13. Trainer James Tate said, “We had been thinking of the Richmond for him, but the forecast is for plenty of rain on Wednesday night so six furlongs on soft probably would stretch him. He's a speedy type, so the five furlongs shouldn't bother him and he's absolutely flying at home. He's come on a good deal since Newmarket. That day he was beaten just by more street-wise rivals, the first two had had five races each and the third had won the Coventry whereas he'd just run in two maidens. I'd like to think he'll have improved for that experience.”
