It will be a case of wherever Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) goes Hartnell (GB) (Authorized {Ire}) won't as trainer James Cummings plans a spring schedule for the Godolphin owned 6-year-old. The gelding has finished behind the brilliant mare on seven occasions and Cummings is keen to get a win into the gelding who has run six times since he last got his head in front in the G1 Turnbull S. at Flemington last October. “We're going to try and stick to a path that Winx isn't necessarily going to be treading down,” Cummings said. “He hasn't won in six starts but I think if we can steer him towards races where he's not chasing home a ghost then he'll be in with a chance.” Cummings has pencilled in the G2 P.B. Lawrence S. at Caulfield next month as a starting point for Hartnell with a potential repeat victory in the Turnbull S. also likely to be on the agenda. Assuming all goes to plan a crack at the G1 BMW Caulfield Cup is also high on the wish list. “He'd probably get about 57kg in the Caulfield Cup but all things being equal he would be our top seed for the race. We're certainly going to think about it and we can probably decide that after Turnbull Stakes Day,” Cummings said.
