Godolphin stalwart Hauraki (Aus) (Reset {Aus}) will be one member of that team missing this spring as trainer James Cummings plans to focus instead on an autumn campaign with the 5-year-old. The gelding ran three solid races in March/April, the best being a third place finish in the G1 Canterbury BMW S. at Randwick and finished up with a fifth behind stable-mate It's Somewhat (Dynaformer) in the G1 Star Doncaster Mile. “Hauraki has been an outstanding performer for Team Godolphin over a number of seasons,” Cummings told Racing And Sports. “We've elected to give him a break for the remainder of the season in the hope of maximising his chances of returning to his best form in the autumn. He's enjoying a break with other members of the team at Godolphin's Kelvinside Stud at Scone. There's nothing that we expect will hold him up in the longer term and we very much look forward to his return to training later in the year,” he added. Hauraki enjoyed his finest hour at Randwick last October when narrowly getting the better of Dibayani (Ire) (Shamardal) in the G1 Epsom H. having landed the G2 Tramway S. the previous month.
