Hikari Stays Atop World Rankings

A Shin Hikari (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) remained atop the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings when the latest installment was revealed on Thursday. The 5-year-old earned a mark of 129 for his 10-length victory in the May 24 G1 Prix d'Ispahan at Chantilly before finishing last of six over soft ground in the G1 Prince of Wales's S. at Royal Ascot.

Improving two points to a rating of 128 is California Chrome (Lucky Pulpit) for his win in the G2 San Diego H. July 24. Australian superstar Winx (Aus) (Street Cry {Ire}) is the world's third highest-rated horse and highest-rated mare on a mark of 127, and she gets her 5-year-old season underway in the Aug. 20 G2 Warwick S.

Frosted (Tapit), who earned a rating of 126 for his tour-de-force in the GI Metropolitan H. June 11, bolstered his reputation with another dominating score in the GI Whitney H. at Saratoga Aug. 6.

Four horses from four countries sit fifth with a rating of 124: Japanese champion miler Maurice (Jpn) (Screen Hero {Jpn}); GI Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist (Uncle Mo); British star Postponed (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}); and Hong Kong's G1 QEII Cup winner Werther (NZ) (Tavistock {NZ}).
