Speaking at Friday's meeting of the California Horse Racing Board, Hollywood President Jack Liebau revealed that the track will race through the summer of 2009, and likely until the end of that year. According to Daily Racing Form, Liebau said, “We expect to be allocated our 2009 historic dates. We have committed that we will run the spring/summer meeting, no question, and the fall meeting if we don't give six months' notice to the contrary.” It is possible the Inglewood oval will operate into 2010 as well. Purchased by the Bay Meadows Land Company from Churchill Downs Inc. for $257.5 million in September of 2005, Hollywood is slated to be closed for redevelopment. The Bay Meadows Land Company has already announced that Bay Meadows will cease to operate after the San Mateo County Fair meet in August.
