The final nominees for the Cartier Horse Of The Year Award have been announced, with the winner to be unveiled along with the other category awards at a ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel, in London on Tuesday. The five nominees are: G1 Champion S. and G1 Irish Champion S. winner Almanzor (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Found (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), GI Breeders' Cup Turf hero Highland Reel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), the brilliant seven-time Group 1 winning 3-year-old filly Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and the G1 Juddmonte International winner Postponed (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).
Harry Herbert, Cartier's Racing Consultant, commented, “The nominations for the 26th Cartier Racing Awards reflect the wonderful horses who have raced in Europe and beyond this year. The awards are eagerly awaited and the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 8 will be a thrilling event.”
European racing's top awards are delivered through a combination of points earned by horses in Pattern races (30%), combined at the end of season with the opinions of a panel of racing journalists (35%) and votes from readers of Racing Post and The Daily Telegraph plus Channel 4 Racing viewers (35%).
