Saturday was a day of 'eclipses' in the Thoroughbred world. In Northern Kentucky, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners won the GIII Bourbonette Oaks for the second year in a row with Silsita (Macho Uno), while in Florida, the one-week old world record for 12 furlongs on turf was, well, eclipsed by–who else?–a horse called Twilight Eclipse (Purim) in the GII Pan American S. at Gulfstream Park. There was even an eclipse of sorts in Sydney, as bright sunlight pierced a rainshower, casting a magnificent rainbow across Rosehill Gardens.
