Snitzel (Aus) and I Am Invincible (Aus), the two leading sires by average with three or more sold at last week's Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, will be the two most represented sires at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale on Apr. 9 to 11, the catalogue for which was released on Friday. A total of 534 yearlings will be offered at Easter, which will be the first renewal of the company's flagship sale to be held at Inglis's new Riverside sales complex. Reigning champion sire and current leading general sire Snitzel has 64 slated to sell, while I Am Invincible, who is currently third on the sire table and who had three millionaires at Magic Millions, has 41. Another champion sire, Fastnet Rock (Aus), has 39 catalogued, while Sebring (Aus) has 34 and Snitzel's sire, Redoute's Choice (Aus), rounds out the top five with 23. Group 1-winning mares with progeny catalogued include Alinghi (Aus), Peggy Jean (Aus), Secret Admirer (Aus), Red Tracer (Aus), Bonaria (Aus) and Steps In Time (Aus). International flair is added to the catalogue with representation by global sires including Deep Impact (Jpn) (three), Tapit (three) and Frankel (GB) (two).
“There is no doubt that Australasia's leading breeders are offering a mouth-watering array of sensational young horses for our buyers to select from at Easter this year,” said Inglis's National Bloodstock Director Jonathan D'Arcy. “The sire strength is something to behold and the types we will see in the Riverside sale ring are simply mind-blowing. There is no doubt in my mind that trainers, syndicators and owners who are looking to purchase an elite athlete to win at the highest level in Australia or around the world must be here in Sydney in April.”
Arrowfield Stud brings the largest draft, and stud owner John Messara said, “We have an eclectic group of 51 yearlings this year by proven champion sires to prospective first-season sires,” Messara said. “Our draft includes an international flavour with three yearlings by Deep Impact, and colts by Frankel and Lord Kanaloa. We are also privileged to offer the first yearling in the world to be sold at public auction by the dual Group 1-winning Japanese stallion Epiphaneia.”
Arrowfield offered two fillies by Lord Kanaloa at Magic Millions and they made A$800,000 and A$280,000.
The Inglis Easter sale will this year by held Monday through Wednesday, and will be bookended by The Championships as well as the second renewal of The Chairman's Sale Racing Prospects (Apr. 5) and The Chairman's Sale Breeding Prospects (Apr. 12). The Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale will follow for three days from Apr. 15.
