The top three finishers from Gulfstream's GII Inside Information S. Mar. 18, led by winner Distinta (Summer Bird), will face off once again as they battle for a spot in the starting gate for the GI Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint in the track-and-trip GII Princess Rooney S. Saturday. Third to the reopposing Curlin's Approval (Curlin), who was fifth in the Inside Information, in the GIII Hurricane Bertie S. Jan. 28, Distinta missed by a neck in the White Pearl S. Feb. 18 prior to her Inside Information win last time. The chestnut is scheduled to sell in the July 10 Fasig-Tipton July Horses of Racing Age Sale.
Inside Information runner-up Wheatfield (Lone Star Special) has failed to hit the board in her three attempts since, most recently finishing fifth in the GIII Bed O' Roses S. June 9. Dearest (Midshipman)–a three-time stakes winner at Gulfstream including the GIII Sugar Swirl S.–has not raced since finishing third in the Inside Information
Two others that could make some noise here are Lightstream (Harlan's Holiday) and Birdatthewire (Summer Bird). Winner of the GIII Beamont S. and GII Raven Run S. last term, Lightstream has not been quite as sharp this term, finishing fifth in the GI Humana Distaff May 6 and third in the Bed o' Roses, but on her best day is a force to be reckoned with. Heroine of the 2015 GII Gulfstream Park Oaks and GI La Brea S., Birdatthewire missed by a head in the GII Chilukki S. Nov. 5 and finished second in an allowance on the Presque Isle synthetic last time May 29.
