The bay is a son of six-time NY-bred stakes winner Mother Russia (Mayakovsky), also twice Grade III-placed, and who was acquired by Vogel for $290K in foal to Tapit at the 2011 Keeneland November sale. The mare produced a colt the following spring who became the $450K FTFMAR graduate Golden Barows, winner of the 2015 Hyacinth S. in Japan and third in the G2 UAE Derby. Mother Russia is a half-sister to GISP Tencendur (Warrior's Reward). General Patton (War Front), a son of MGSW & GISP turfer Gotta Have Her (Royal Academy), looms large off a debut second going a touch further on debut June 12.
