Intense Holiday LA Derby Bound

 Starlight Racing’s Intense Holiday (Harlan’s Holiday) exited his dramatic win in Saturday’s GII Risen Star S. in good order and will likely make his next start in the Mar. 29 GI Louisiana Derby. “That’s the game plan right now,” Starlight’s Jack Wolf said of the Louisiana Derby. “We talked to [trainer] Todd [Pletcher] about it and he’s on board with it, and we talked to [jockey] Mikey [Smith] and he says he’s open. Intense Holiday seemed to like the track here. The long stretch here seemed to suit him, so–the good Lord willing–the horse keeps going like he is, it looks like a good plan.” 
  Also expected to line up in the Louisiana Derby is Risen Star runner-up Albano (Istan). “He ran a great race [Saturday],” said trainer Larry Jones. “I was very pleased with the way he ran. He just got beat in the last jump.” Click here to share this story.
