Halters worn by a bevy of racing stalwarts, including Horse of the Year American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile), will be offered in an online auction to benefit Central Riding for Hope June 24. In addition to the winner of the 2015 Triple Crown and GI Breeders' Cup Classic, halters worn by Arrogate, California Chrome, Nyquist, Frankel and Speightstown will also be offered at the 'Night of the Stars' which will be held at the Keene Barn & Entertainment Center in Lexington, Kentucky. “CKRH is extremely grateful for the community support received through donations of such amazing items for us to auction,” said CKRH Executive Director Pat Kline. “Thanks to generosity of prominent Central Kentucky Thoroughbred farms, our wide array of halters worn by famous horses has become a signature feature of our event.”
Other items available for online bidding include 1919 carousel horse created by Allan Herschell and professionally restored in the late 1980s by carousel artist Tom Layton; a basketball autographed by the 2014-15 UK Men's Basketball Team that went 38-1; in addition to jewelry, art and photography, antiques and collectibles, equestrian-themed items, gift certificates to local restaurants, tickets to area attractions and items for the home, garden and office.
Farms that donated halters are Adena Springs, Ashford Stud, Claiborne, Coolmore, Darby Dan, Gainesway, Godolphin, Hill 'n' Dale, Old Friends, Ramsey, Spendthrift, Taylor Made and WinStar. Tickets are $150 each or a table for $2,000 and may be purchased by calling CKRH at (859) 231-7066.
